By the end of 2016, the company had won more than 30 environmental protection awards in countries along the "Belt and Road Initiative" route, embarked on a road of green development with good production and ecological harmony, and became one of the first domestic enterprises to sign the green "Belt and Road Initiative" initiative.
As the main enterprise of "Belt and Road Initiative" production capacity cooperation in China's petroleum and chemical industry, at present, PetroChina has 91 overseas projects, covering 35 major oil and gas-bearing countries and regions in the world. among them, 19 countries in the "Belt and Road Initiative" region participate in the management and operation of 50 oil and gas investment projects. PetroChina actively advocates and practices the concept of innovative, green and low-carbon development overseas, vigorously promotes pollution reduction, strictly abides by the environmental protection laws and regulations of resource countries, and constantly strengthens the control of pollution sources.
The company pays attention to environmental protection technology innovation, has formed a drilling mud does not fall to the ground and other environmental protection technology. For example, the Kazakh Akjiobin Oilfield project, which adopts the technology of recycling associated gas in the oilfield, has increased the comprehensive utilization rate of natural gas from 23% to 99.7, achieving a double harvest of environmental benefits.
Iran's North Azadegan project is the only foreign cooperation project awarded by the Iranian government in recent years. "The project operation area is located in Iran's National Wetland Nature Reserve, and environmental protection requirements are almost stringent. We have achieved good environmental benefits by adopting integral lifting culverts, cluster well development, strengthening site management, and training local staff, which have been highly praised by the Iranian government." China Petroleum Middle East Company spokesman Han Shaoguo said.
At the press conference, PetroChina simultaneously released the 2016 Environmental Protection Bulletin, which is the 18th consecutive year that the company has issued an environmental protection bulletin. The data show that the emissions of the four major pollutants of PetroChina showed a downward trend in 2016, with sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides falling by more than 10%, the best record in history.
PetroChina spokesperson Qu Guangxue said that PetroChina is currently vigorously promoting green transformation. This year, it has successively launched the "Low-Carbon Development Roadmap", "Pollution Compliance and Upgrade Plan", and "Ecological Protection Action Program." In the future, it will further increase investment, produce clean energy in a green way, explore new energy such as combustible ice, and make PetroChina an excellent green and low-carbon corporate citizen.
